Largs to Milford Haven - Passage

july 15th to july 25th

Overview

Join us in Scotland aboard Asante, a luxury 57’ Oyster yacht.  The trip is suitable for all – sit back and relax or get involved.  The choice is yours but with two passages in excess of 60 miles and a guaranteed night sail then this is ideal for anyone working either towards a Yachtmaster qualification or simply to improve their navigational and seamanship skills all under the guidance of a Yachtmaster Instructor who has logged over 120,000 see miles.

We will leave the Scottish islands behind and head across the Irish Sea to Bangor.  From there, east  to the Isle of Man then south to Ireland, birth place of Oscar Wilde and home of Guiness beer.  And finally back across the Irish Sea to complete our 308 mile journey in Wales.

Saturday 15th July                   Join us at 4pm aboard Asante

Sunday 16th July                    After a hearty breakfast its a short 17NM passage to Arran with the peak of Goat Fell rising to 2,867ft in the distance.  We will drop anchor in the protected Lamlash bay behind Holy Island.

Monday 17th July                   We head south for Bangor  As we leave the bottom of Arran we will see the impressive rock that is Ailsa Craig. This outcrop is famous for being one of only two locations in the world from where granite for curling stones can be quarried.  On arriving in Bangor Bay we head into the marina where we can stretch our legs.

Tuesday 18th July                Back over the Irish Sea again, this time to the Isle of Man.  We will drop anchor off Port Erin.  This beautiful little seaside village boasts beautiful beaches and stunning views over to Ireland.

Wednesday 19th July  Rest day.  A short dingy ride ashore allows you to sample the local fare or wander the many coastal and inland paths.

Thursday 20th July                  We head south west to Dublin to Dun Laoghaire Harbour.  This Five Gold Star Marina has everything we would expect from a high standard marina and with the town within easy walking distance there will be no shortage of choice as to where to sample a Guiness –  Ireland is home to one of the most successful alcohol brands in the world.

Friday 21st July                       A short hop down the coast to Greystones takes us to an ideal location to rest before our long and final passage.

Saturday 22nd July                    Rest day.  It’s a short hop by train into Dublin for those who want to explore further afield or if you want to just stay close to home this lovely seaside town is known as a fantastic destination for boutique shopping and wellness and healthy living.

Sun 23 + Mon 24 July  Greystones to Milford Haven.  This two day passage will have us crossing the Irish Sea for the last time.  We will sail through the night and for those who have never experienced this it is something to remember.
